Filter cartridges

Modern dust traps use smallish filter cartridges with a pleated surface, as they provide a simple yet effective method of filtration. Filter cartridges are easy to use and simple to replace, due to the many established methods for fixing them in place.

The most important characteristics of a filter cartridge are its diameter and its length, as a cartridge can only function properly if it fits the dust trap unit exactly. Filter manufacturers produce filter cartridges in a wide variety of sizes, with diameters ranging from 100 - 660 mm and with lengths up to 2000 mm.

Due to their configuration, filter cartridges have a significantly larger filteration surface than filter bags or mesh filter bags. This larger surface enables more efficient separation. The resistance of the filter cartridge during the filtering process is determined by the accumulation of dust and the permeability of the filter material itself. The filter materials we provide have an active dust trapping surface due to dust repellent chemical treatment and a smooth surface configuration.

The filter media in filter cartridges include cellulose, polyester and polypropylene, as well as various combinations of these. Manufacturers of filter cartridges use only certified filter materials. Depending on the task in hand, filter materials may be Teflon-coated, oleo- and hydrophobic, antistatic, fire retardant, etc.

Filter cartridges may be fitted in a variety of ways, and we also offer cartridges with fittings other than the most prevelant upper and lower claw, clip, screw clamp, and tie fittings. We also make cartridges, or can have them made, in accordance with individual needs and requests.

Filter cartridges are generally used in an industrial context, but they are also frequently preferred in smaller plants. They typically perform well in surface filtration, where the contaminant is deposited on the surface of the filter material. This is then removed using vibration technology or compressed air backflow (causing pulsation effects on the filter surface).Because of this, these cartridges are made of a special filter material and also have a long lifespan. As to initial costs, cartridges are more expensive than filter bags but they require less maintenance, so they are cheaper in the long term.
